Auckland's rental properties remain the most expensive in the country but Christchurch is close behind, new figures show. The average weekly rent in Auckland was $494 in the past quarter, according to Trade Me Property, followed by Canterbury at $480 and Wellington at $408. Head of Trade Me Property, Brendon Skipper said tenants in Christchurch were facing asking rents which were 22 per cent higher than a year ago - well above the national rise of just three per cent.
